The French youth national teams are known to be amongst the best in the world. These squads are rich in talent and often feature first-team players of teams playing in Europes's big five leagues. We accompanied France's U17 men's team in their preparation for their games against Wales, gaining interesting insights on and off the pitch.

The U17 French national team come together mid-week at the Clairefontaine national technical centre ahead of a double-header against Wales. The Dragons tend to play in a 4-4-2 diamond, a system the French players rarely encounter when representing their club teams.

To prepare the group for these two games, head coach Jean-Luc Vannuchi and assistant coach Vincent Hamonic organised video sessions to analyse with the players the last games played by their upcoming opponent. These sessions are followed by tactical training on the pitch. Here players can practice the solutions they have discussed during their video analysis to solve the problems Wales are likely to create.
