          The type of clearance the player has utilised whilst performing the defensive action. The classification of the clearance is dictated by the event prior to the defensive action.

          Interception clearance

          A player anticipates where the ball is being played and stops the intended in possession event (Pass), attempting to relieve pressure on their team by clearing the ball up field or out of play with their first touch.

          Cross clearance

          A player decides to clear the ball up field or out of play, attempting to relieve pressure on their team following a cross from the opposing team with their first touch.

          Loose ball clearance

          A player decides to clear the ball upfield or out of play with their first touch, attempting to relieve pressure on their team after the ball has fallen loose.

          Attempt-at-goal clearance

          A player decides to clear the ball upfield or out of play with their first touch, attempting to relieve pressure on their team following an attempt at goal from the opposing team.

          Set-play clearance

          A player decides to clear the ball upfield or out of play with their first touch, attempting to relieve pressure on their team following a set play from the opposing team.
