Direct pressure
At the point of receipt, a player is under clear pressure from an opponent who is actively attempting to disrupt or contest for possession. Any body contact between the attacker and the defender also equates to direct pressure.
Indirect pressure
At the point of receipt, the player is under pressure from an opponent trying to control the direction in which the ball can be played. The opposition player is not within an appropriate distance to compete for possession and is not attempting to directly recover possession themselves.
No pressure
At the point of receipt, the player is under no pressure and is able to perform an action freely in any direction.
